Beef Stroganoff

Steve and I just finished watching Robin Hood (trailer) with Russell Crowe. It’s my latest favorite movie. It will be one of those movies I watch more than once or even twice.

Dinner tonight was Beef Stroganoff, always a favorite…..

Soup and Sausage

My drive home today was nice. The weather was much cooler, the traffic much thinner and the scenery much more beautiful. I got home in plenty of time to do the stack of dishes in the sink, go through the stack of mail, water the plants, clean out the rotted food in the refrigerator… etc., etc., etc…… I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping so dinner was polish sausage and vegetable beef soup. I had ramen noodles.

Panda Express

The drive out of LA was driver friendly. I waited to leave until after rush hour and the traffic was smooth all the way to Int. 15. From there to Cedar City was smooth sailing too. I’m settled into the Hampton Inn with the air conditioner blasting. At one time the temperature was 109°. I had to keep turning off the AC so my car wouldn’t over heat. It makes you really appreciate the Colorado summer weather…

Panda Express was right next to the hotel so I grabbed some food from there and brought it back to my room…. it was mediocre at best….

Today Emily and I went to see the movie Inception with Leonard Dicaprio. It was really good, if you have not seen it I highly recommend it.

Tonight Emily and I joined Berkley and Seth for dinner at Cary and Margret’s new apartment. They’ve moved into a really nice place. It’s open and spacious and has great walls for art and has a great patio. Cary planned a wonderful meal of marinated grilled skirt steak (Seth cooked it on the grill), steamed wax beans, fantastic heirloom tomatoes from the farmers market, an avocado salad, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic for the rosemary bread and fresh fruit for dessert. It was really really good!!!! Cary also made me a very yummy mango martini!!!!

At the end of the evening I had to say good-bye to Seth and Berkley. I won’t see them again until Christmas. I’ll be driving back to Colorado tomorrow and I’m always very sad to go. I miss being with my kids so much….  But I do have the rest of the evening to spend with Emily at her apartment.

Did I say Beerfest? Yep… Seth, Berkley, Emily, Sandra, Colin and I ordered up a taxi and went to the Sony Studios in Culver City to start sampling beer. Some of us sampled way to much beer!!! I’ll let you guess who. It was a lot fun. Good beer, good music and a lot of happy drunks.

Emily and I grabbed a late dinner at Kreation Kafe, a restaurant just a few blocks from her house. I had the Natural Free-Range Chicken Breast Kabob with Quinoa and Emily had the Niman Ranch Ground Beef Kabob with Quinoa. The ingredients were fresh and healthy and the portions were generous. Unlike the last couple of posts I finally remembered to take a picture….

Angeli Caffe

Tonight we celebrated a late birthday dinner for Emily. Seems like she’s had several birthday celebrations this year but not with me…. She chose Angeli Caffe for her birthday dinner. We met Seth and Berkley there, ordered a nice bottle of wine and looked over the menu.

I ordered the Linguine alle Vongole – fresh clams, tons of garlic, a touch of chile pepper, white wine and herbs.

Seth and Berkley ordered the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare – tomato-parsley sauce with assorted fresh seafood.

Emily ordered the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio – garlic, a bit of hot pepper, olive oil.

It’s always nice to go out to dinner with my kids!!!
